First-year dramatic arts students at Brock are required to run 10 kilometres in order to complete their first year of studies.<\/p>\n

And once again, students from the program are encouraging fellow students and the Brock community to join them in their school-related run for a good cause.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, March 31, first-year Dramatic Arts<\/a> students will host their second-annual Both Sides of the Heart 10km walk\/run. The fundraiser will raise money for Start Me Up Niagara and the Marlene Moser Scholarship Fund.<\/p>\n

The event takes place on the track behind the Quarry View residences. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the run at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

“We believe in our department that our mind, body and soul are our tools for the groundwork of training in the arts,” says Emma Bulpin, a fourth-year Dramatic Arts student.<\/p>\n

“We think it is important for all students to come and support this run,” says Bulpin. “It establishes a sense of community within the Brock student body and it supports their community too.”<\/p>\n

More than 70 students attended last year’s<\/a> Both Sides of the Heart event, which raised $1,300. This year’s goal is draw more than 100 participants and raise $2,000.<\/p>\n

The minimum pledge for the run is $10.<\/p>\n

To make a donation or to sign up to volunteer, students will have a table set up in Mackenzie Chown A-Block hallway next week on Monday (1 to 3 p.m.) and Wednesday (12 noon to 2 p.m.).<\/p>\n

Start Me Up Niagara<\/a> is a St. Catharines-based organization that works with individuals to give them a better quality of life and level of self-sufficiency.
