{"id":14109,"date":"2011-12-07T10:30:11","date_gmt":"2011-12-07T15:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=14109"},"modified":"2011-12-07T10:30:11","modified_gmt":"2011-12-07T15:30:11","slug":"international-kosher-wine-expert-coming-to-ccovi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2011\/12\/international-kosher-wine-expert-coming-to-ccovi\/","title":{"rendered":"International kosher wine expert coming to CCOVI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14108\" title=\"stock photo of wine bottles\" src=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/winebottles.jpg\" alt=\"stock photo of wine bottles\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Just a week before Hanukkah, one of the world\u2019s leading experts on kosher wine will be at the <a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/ccovi\" target=\"_blank\">Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute<\/a> (CCOVI) to help people learn and taste the difference between kosher and non-kosher wines.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Dec. 12, Rabbi Nachum Rabinowitz will be at Brock to give the talk \u201cDemystifying kosher winemaking,\u201d as well as a tasting featuring several varieties of wine.<\/p>\n<p>Rabinowitz is senior wine and liquor supervisor with the Orthodox Union, the New York-based organization that is the largest kosher certification organization in North America.<\/p>\n<p>Rabinowitz will talk about the history of kosher wine and dissect some misconceptions people have about it.<\/p>\n<p>An expert with many years in the field, Rabinowitz performs site inspections and oversees the kosher supervision of wine in 12 countries. Canada has not had a certified kosher wine producer in more than 25 years.
