Farrell, a professor of <a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/humanities\/departments-and-centres\/applied-linguistics\" target=\"_blank\">Applied Linguistics<\/a>, will write a section of a handbook that will be used by instructors in language programs across the province.<\/p>\n<p>Farrell has been invited to write the component section of the Reflective Practice Booklet in the <em>Practitioner Handbook<\/em> for the Toronto Catholic District School Board&#8217;s Adult Education Program. The program has been funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and will develop and implement a framework for supporting the professional development of English as a Second Language (ESL) instructors in programs across Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>The booklet will eventually be distributed for free to agencies funded by the federal government&#8217;s Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada and provincially funded adult ESL programs.<\/p>\n<p>Farrell was invited to contribute for his &#8220;leadership and expertise in reflective practice with teachers of adult English language learners, paired with your accessible, engaging style,&#8221; the invitation letter said.<\/p>\n<p>The project is set to be launched in 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thomas S.
