{"id":112006,"date":"2026-10-05T13:09:15","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T17:09:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=112006"},"modified":"2026-10-05T16:46:59","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T20:46:59","slug":"feedback-sought-on-brocks-first-edid-action-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/10\/feedback-sought-on-brocks-first-edid-action-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Feedback sought on Brock\u2019s first EDID Action Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Community consultation continues this month for Brock University\u2019s first institutional Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) Action Plan.<\/p>\n<p>Grounded in Brock\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/strategic-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institutional Strategic Plan<\/a>, the University\u2019s first EDID Action Plan is organized around nine transformative goals that reflect priorities identified through community feedback, including insights from EDID focus groups, consultations and recommendations gathered over the past five years.<\/p>\n<p>Each goal has corresponding actions that will be tracked through annual reporting processes and shared on the University website to promote transparency and ensure accountability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrock&#8217;s first EDID Action Plan is an important milestone in our ongoing journey toward a more equitable and inclusive university,\u201d says Chelsea Takalo, Associate Vice-President, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. \u201cThis work is about more than priorities on paper. It is about embedding EDID into the everyday fabric of Brock, so it informs how we lead, make decisions, build relationships, and hold ourselves accountable across the institution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once complete, the plan will serve as a four-year framework to address systemic barriers and gaps, strengthen institutional accountability, and guide the Brock\u2019s work to advance equity, inclusion, human rights and decolonization through 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Actions related to decolonization will also complement the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/10\/strengthening-relationships-and-learning-at-heart-of-indigenous-strategic-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently launched Indigenous Strategic Plan<\/a> by addressing the ongoing impacts of anti-Indigenous racism within broader institutional, legislative and human rights frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>More than 270 members of the Brock community have participated in the campus-wide consultation process that started in the spring.
