Several Brock University programs were ranked among the best in the world in ShanghaiRanking\u2019s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026<\/a>, including a Top 100 ranking for Tourism Management and a Top 200 ranking for Business Administration.<\/p>\n

Released earlier this month, the analysis places Brock\u2019s tourism programming among the top three Canadian universities with comparable offerings, while the Business Administration program is tied for eighth place in Canada.<\/p>\n

The rankings are determined based on the program\u2019s international collaboration, research impact, world-class output, world-class faculty and high-quality research.<\/p>\n

David Goldblum, Chair of the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies, says the high global ranking reflects the \u201cliving laboratory\u201d for tourism offered by Brock\u2019s unique location.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrock sits in the heart of one of the largest and most important tourism centres in Canada,\u201d he says. \u201cWe are right in the middle of the wine industry, Niagara-on-the-Lake\u2019s historical and arts appeal, and the internationally known destination of Niagara Falls, so opportunities abound for students to learn about these different parts of the tourism sector and connect with so many different providers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The department offers programming related to several aspects of the tourism field, including Tourism Management, Tourism Studies and Tourism and Environment.<\/p>\n

A close relationship with the Goodman School of Business supports the management components of studies in Tourism Management, alongside departmental expertise in local planning for tourism.<\/p>\n

Goldblum also notes the wealth of environmental scholarship and research taking place that supports the Tourism and Environment program with topics such as nature-based tourism<\/a>, ethics and the impacts and implications of climate change when it comes to the field.<\/p>\n

Required internships and a co-op option help students make the most of experiences within the local tourism sector, and the Department\u2019s long commitment to field courses<\/a> gives students the chance to study in different parts of Canada as well as internationally in the United Kingdom, Croatia, New Zealand and other destinations.<\/p>\n

Student exchange opportunities have also been developed with some of the world\u2019s leading tourism programs, including NHL Stenden<\/a> in the Netherlands, Queen Margaret University in Scotland, Toyo University in Japan, University of West Indies (Trinidad and Tobago campus) and many more.<\/p>\n

Ingrid Makus, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, says she is pleased that students around the world will be able to take notice of the excellent tourism programming on offer at Brock.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see our Tourism programs listed among the world\u2019s best is a testament to the thoughtful program development benefitting our students and to the world-class research being produced by faculty members,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Goodman Dean Barry Wright says that being ranked among the world\u2019s Top 200 institutions for Business Administration and tied for eighth in Canada is a proud milestone for the School.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs business becomes increasingly global, rankings such as these demonstrate that Goodman is earning recognition not only within Canada but among leading business schools around the world,” he says. “This recognition reflects the exceptional work of our faculty, the success of our students and alumni, and the strength of the partnerships that connect our research and teaching to real-world impact.\u201d<\/p>\n
