{"id":111645,"date":"2026-09-18T16:20:05","date_gmt":"2026-09-18T20:20:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=111645"},"modified":"2026-09-18T16:20:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T20:20:05","slug":"community-of-practice-invites-employees-to-advance-equity-human-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/09\/community-of-practice-invites-employees-to-advance-equity-human-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Community of Practice invites employees to advance equity, human rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Human Rights and Equity Office is refreshing Brock\u2019s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) Community of Practice, a professional learning community bringing\u00a0together staff and faculty from across the University who\u00a0want to deepen their EDID, accessibility and human rights knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Meeting monthly during the academic year, the group is open to any Brock staff or faculty member interested in connecting with colleagues around this work, whether EDID is central to their role, one part of a broader portfolio or an area they are interested in integrating more intentionally into their work.<\/p>\n<p>The Community of Practice supports ongoing professional learning and helps build EDID capacity across the University by creating opportunities for participants to develop and exchange knowledge, learn from the expertise and experiences of others, and build connections across Faculties and departments.<\/p>\n<p>In-person attendance is encouraged\u00a0for the two-hour sessions\u00a0to support discussion,\u00a0collaboration\u00a0and connection. A\u00a0hybrid\u00a0option\u00a0will be\u00a0available for accessibility. Sessions will have a plan and structure shared in advance while\u00a0remaining\u00a0responsive to the interests and needs of participants.<\/p>\n<p>The first gathering this fall will focus on community building and collaboratively\u00a0identifying\u00a0priorities for the year.
