Brock University is calling on the campus community to help offer a warm welcome to students and their families this September.<\/p>\n
Volunteers are needed for Brock\u2019s inaugural Welcome Weekend \u2014 two days of activities that expand on the University\u2019s annual residence move-in and build on the excitement of Welcome Week.<\/p>\n
Taking place Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6, Welcome Weekend will help students and their families get acquainted with campus while enjoying live music, food trucks and lawn games and engaging with their peers, faculty, staff and alumni. The event will welcome the more than 2,700 students moving into Brock\u2019s residences as well as all new and returning students and their families.<\/p>\n
\u201cStarting university is an important milestone, and a welcoming community will make all the difference,\u201d said Brad Clarke, Associate Vice-President, Students. \u201cWelcome Weekend showcases the best of Brock by bringing people together to help our newest Badgers and their families feel connected, supported and proud to be part of the Brock community from day one.\u201d<\/p>\n
Volunteers are needed from across the Brock community to create a friendly, energetic and supportive first experience for students and their families.<\/p>\n

A meal voucher will be provided for every three hours of volunteering.<\/p>\n
To volunteer, please complete the Welcome Weekend volunteer form<\/a> by Wednesday, Aug.12. To host a Welcome Weekend event, email Kristen Smith at kristen.smith@brocku.ca<\/a> to confirm your department\u2019s interest and activity.<\/p>\n Volunteers are also asked to join colleagues and student leaders from across the University for an event held Thursday, Sept. 3 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Market Hall to kick off Welcome Weekend and Welcome Week and prepare volunteers to welcome Badgers to campus.<\/p>\n Full lists of Welcome Weekend<\/a> and Welcome Week<\/a> events are available on ExperienceBU.
