{"id":110412,"date":"2026-06-15T16:43:50","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T20:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=110412"},"modified":"2026-06-15T16:43:50","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T20:43:50","slug":"top-goodman-students-encouraged-to-embrace-their-core-values","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/06\/top-goodman-students-encouraged-to-embrace-their-core-values\/","title":{"rendered":"Top Goodman students encouraged to embrace their core values"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While addressing a group of top Goodman School of Business scholars, Mike Pilato (BAcc \u201998) reminded students that their values will define how they will show up, lead and ultimately be judged over the course of their careers.<\/p>\n<p>The President and CEO of Jamieson Wellness spoke virtually during Goodman\u2019s Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) induction ceremony, sharing insights from his own career journey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there\u2019s one lesson that I\u2019ve learned from my time here at Brock to leading a global organization, it\u2019s that everything starts with you being your authentic self,\u201d Pilato said. \u201cWhen you are authentic, you have no competition and when you show up that way, you create space for others to do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Held in the Goodman Atrium following Convocation on June 12, the event saw 79 students inducted into Brock\u2019s BGS chapter.<\/p>\n<p>Beta Gamma Sigma recognizes the top 10 per cent of the undergraduate class and top 20 per cent of graduate students at institutions accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), making it one of most prestigious honours business students can achieve around the world.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_110418\" style=\"width: 361px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BGS-Story-Preview-0005-copy-scaled.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-110418\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-110418\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BGS-Story-Preview-0005-copy-1050x700.jpg\" alt=\"Woman in blue dress stands in front of a green bush and brown building displaying two pins on her lapel. One a Beta Gamma Sigma pin the other a Brock alumni pin.\" width=\"351\" height=\"234\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-110418\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jennifer Gauthier (BA \u201909, MBA \u201926) was one of 79 students inducted into Goodman\u2019s Beta Gamma Sigma chapter on June 12.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pilato stressed that excellence is not defined by what one delivers alone, but how one enables others to create their best work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can bring excellence in every single day and do every piece of your work on your own, but when you can drive excellence through other people, it multiplies and when that happens, your impact becomes exponentially greater,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Among Friday\u2019s inductees was Jennifer Gauthier (BA \u201909, MBA \u201926), a Brock Psychology graduate who returned to her alma mater to complete an MBA.<\/p>\n<p>As her career responsibilities grew, the Executive Director of Birchway Niagara was looking for a flexible part-time program to expand her skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing in the field and doing my education at the same time, I was able to apply what I was doing in my work in the classroom to enrich conversations,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I was also able to take the knowledge in real time back to work to improve outcomes for our small non-profit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gauthier said being inducted into BGS was the perfect way to cap off her Brock experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really honoured to receive Beta Gamma Sigma,\u201d she said. \u201cI worked really hard, I think I learned a lot and it\u2019s another significant milestone to add onto your graduation day that represents the quality of education that you received and all you were able to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Goodman was recognized by BGS as the 2026 Silver Chapter of the year, a top international honour.
