The wins are stacking up for Brock\u2019s up-and-coming video game designers.<\/p>\n

Digital Humanities graduands \u2014 who will cross the stage at Brock\u2019s upcoming 119th Convocation next month \u2014\u00a0scooped the coveted XP26 People\u2019s Choice Award for Best Indie at XP Game Summit in Toronto on May 22 for their game DisGo<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The game, which pits four friends against each other in a split-screen battle for the disco dance spotlight, also won third place in the People\u2019s Choice category earlier this year at Toronto\u2019s Level Up Showcase<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The annual XP Game Summit<\/a> brings together professionals across the gaming ecosystem including game developers and publishers alongside business and technology experts.<\/p>\n

The People\u2019s Choice award was determined by votes of conference attendees and saw Brock\u2019s team emerge victorious from a choice of more than 20 local indie games and studios.<\/p>\n

DisGo<\/em> was produced as a capstone project for Brock and Niagara College’s GAME program.<\/p>\n

Aaron Mauro, Associate Professor and Chair of Digital Humanities, said the team\u2019s recognition at the XP Game Summit is evidence of the creativity, technical skill and collaborative spirit of students in the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo win a prize granted by industry peers and the gaming community speaks volumes about both the quality of\u00a0DisGo<\/em>\u00a0and the strength of our GAME Design program,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

DisGo<\/em> team member Travis Waterman said it was an honour for them to demo their game alongside the other indie games of the region at the summit.<\/p>\n
