{"id":109662,"date":"2026-05-13T17:03:05","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T21:03:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=109662"},"modified":"2026-05-13T17:03:05","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T21:03:05","slug":"updated-counselling-service-crisis-support-contact-information-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/05\/updated-counselling-service-crisis-support-contact-information-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Updated counselling service, crisis support contact information available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock\u2019s Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) has updated its crisis and counselling service contact information.<\/p>\n<p>The change comes as SWAC \u2014 which connects students with mental health supports, medical care and accessibility services \u2014 grows its wellness team and brings some services in-house.<\/p>\n<p>Students seeking <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/health-wellness-accessibility\/student-health\/mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">personal counselling<\/a> can email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:counselling@brocku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">counselling@brocku.ca<\/a> or call 905-688-5550 x5442.<\/p>\n<p>Counselling appointments are available both in person at Brock and virtually, allowing students to choose the format that best meets their needs.<\/p>\n<p>The University offers a range of counselling and psychotherapy services, depending on student needs and clinician assignment, and students will be connected with trained, caring, trauma-informed members of the expanded Brock wellness team who provide confidential support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur students and staff consistently provide valuable feedback, and many prefer email as their first point of contact for counselling services,\u201d said Kerri Nagy, Manager, Health and Clinical Operations. \u201cWhether by email or phone, our team is here to ensure students can access support in a way that feels comfortable and accessible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students in <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/health-wellness-accessibility\/are-you-in-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crisis<\/a> and needing urgent support are encouraged to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Call 911 in the event of immediate risk.<\/li>\n<li>Call or text 988 to speak to someone immediately.
