{"id":109518,"date":"2026-05-05T14:57:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T18:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=109518"},"modified":"2026-05-05T15:58:05","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T19:58:05","slug":"overnight-outages-building-closures-scheduled-for-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/05\/overnight-outages-building-closures-scheduled-for-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Overnight outages, building closures scheduled for Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several Brock University buildings will be closed overnight from Friday, May 8 at 6 p.m. to Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. for scheduled annual maintenance to Brock\u2019s electrical systems.<\/p>\n<p>Part of Brock\u2019s full-scale infrastructure maintenance cycle, the shutdown will affect the following Group B buildings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rankin Family Pavillion<\/li>\n<li>Schmon Tower<\/li>\n<li>Thistle Complex<\/li>\n<li>Decew Residence<\/li>\n<li>Alphies Trough<\/li>\n<li>Vallee Residence<\/li>\n<li>Central Utilities Building<\/li>\n<li>Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These buildings will be closed with no access permitted during this time. All doors will be locked, and swipe card access will be unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>Network access, including both wired and wireless connections, will go offline at 6 p.m. Friday and will return shortly after power is restored Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Employees, students and faculty using the spaces listed above are reminded to shut down computers, printers and sensitive equipment and to clean out fridges to prevent food spoilage.<\/p>\n<p>Brock\u2019s main campus will experience two short power outages during this scheduled maintenance \u2014 one Friday night and a second Saturday morning.
