For many in the Brock and wider Niagara communities, the blooming of the University\u2019s cherry blossom trees is a much-anticipated sign that spring has arrived.<\/p>\n
That annual tradition is now underway, with the beauty of Brock\u2019s Sakura trees drawing in students, faculty, staff and visitors eager to take in the blooms in the green space in front of Schmon Tower.<\/p>\n
The seasonal display returns for only a short time each year, with blossoms typically lasting up to 10 days, depending on weather conditions. Cherry blossoms can also be found near Residence 8 on the east side of campus.<\/p>\n
Brock\u2019s Sakura trees were donated in 2003 by the Japanese government as a symbol of friendship between Japan and Canada. The University\u2019s 200 trees were part of the broader Sakura Tree Planting Project, which saw 3,000 Sakura trees planted across Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\t
