{"id":108109,"date":"2026-03-03T12:42:37","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T17:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=108109"},"modified":"2026-06-19T18:40:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T22:40:07","slug":"brock-seeks-two-more-world-class-researchers-for-impact-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/03\/brock-seeks-two-more-world-class-researchers-for-impact-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock seeks two more world-class researchers for Impact+ program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock University is seeking two additional world-class researchers through the Government of Canada\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/innovation-science-economic-development\/news\/2025\/12\/government-of-canada-launches-new-initiative-to-recruit-world-leading-researchers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada Global Impact+ Research Talent Initiative<\/a><strong>, <\/strong>a national effort to attract top international talent in priority research areas.<\/p>\n<p>The Initiative offers $1.7\u00a0billion over 12\u00a0years to support institutions in the recruitment of cutting-edge research talent whose work advances societal well-being, economic growth, environmental sustainability and inclusive innovation.<\/p>\n<p>In total, Brock is in the process of recruiting five <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/impact-plus-chairs\/news\/updates\/2025\/12\/government-of-canada-introduces-two-new-programs-for-international-researchers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada Impact+ Research Chairs<\/a> under the Initiative. Three searches have now closed, and two opportunities are currently posted on the University&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese programs represent some of the most prestigious and competitive research recruitment opportunities globally. They reflect Brock\u2019s confidence in its research strengths and our ability to attract exceptional talent,\u201d says Vice-President, Research Tim Kenyon. \u201cJust as importantly, they build on impact Brock is already delivering and create a pathway to accelerate that work in ways that align with national priorities and generate direct economic, societal and health benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com\/brocku_careers\/job\/St-Catharines-Main-Campus\/Canada-Impact--Research-Chair-in-Systems---Tissue-Crosstalk--Professor-or-Associate-Professor--Tenured-_JR-1022990\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Systems and Tissue Crosstalk<\/a> will lead a program addressing the rapidly rising burden and cost of chronic, age-related diseases. Areas of investigation include changes in molecular and cell biology as well as exercise, lifestyle and behavioural interventions to improve physiological function and health outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Chair will strengthen Brock\u2019s research by bringing world-leading expertise in integrative biology, accelerating discovery, attracting top trainees and collaborators, and expanding the University\u2019s national and international impact,\u201d says Associate Professor of Health Sciences Rebecca MacPherson.<\/p>\n<p>The closing date for the position is Thursday, March 26 at 12:01 a.m. The last full business day to apply is Wednesday, March 25.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com\/brocku_careers\/job\/St-Catharines-Main-Campus\/Canada-Impact--Research-Chair-in-Artificial-Intelligence-and-Social-Change--Professor-or-Associate-Professor--Tenured-_JR-1022989\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Social Change<\/a> will lead a program advancing a global understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are designed, deployed, governed and experienced in real-world social contexts with the aim of developing more inclusive and equitable AI practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe research chair in Artificial Intelligence and Social Change will help people understand the rapid pace of technological development related to AI, which is already transforming our relationship to work, knowledge, art, politics and our own humanity,\u201d\u00a0says Associate Professor of Digital Media Aaron Mauro.<\/p>\n<p>The closing date for the position is Thursday, March 26 at 12:01 a.m. The last full business day to apply is Wednesday, March 25.<\/p>\n<p>These two current recruitments build on <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2026\/01\/brock-seeks-world-leading-researchers-through-cerc-impact-programs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three earlier<\/a> Canada Impact+ Research Chair searches that have now closed: Human Mobility and Wearable Technologies; Climate and Environmental Change; and Sustainable Agriculture for Grape and Wine (Professor or Associate Professor).
