Former Brock Badgers goaltender Logan Thompson is set to represent Canada on the global stage when he hits the ice as a member of the men\u2019s hockey team<\/a> at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.<\/p>\n

The Calgary native played for the Brock during the 2018-19 season before signing a two-year entry-level contract<\/a> with the National Hockey League\u2019s (NHL) Vegas Golden Knights in 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He delivered a 2.22 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage in 24 games during his season with Brock and was named the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Goaltender of the Year, OUA Rookie of the Year and an OUA First Team All-Star.<\/p>\n

Thompson spoke about his time with the Badgers men\u2019s hockey program, which he joined at a time when his professional hockey journey seemed to have stalled<\/a>, during a recent interview with Sportsnet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, it was a good mental escape just to kind of get a reset, change of scenery,\u201d he said in the interview. \u201cI honestly think I just fell in love with the game again and I was just having a lot of fun. We were really successful, and I just really enjoyed coming to the rink every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thompson\u2019s persistence paid off and he has since played five professional seasons, been selected as an NHL All-Star<\/a> and won the Stanley Cup in 2023.<\/p>\n

Now, he is reaching for another career milestone as a member of the first men\u2019s Olympic hockey tournament to feature NHL players since 2014. Canada begins its quest for gold at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games on Thursday, Feb. 12, with the tournament set to run until Sunday, Feb. 22.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
