{"id":106718,"date":"2025-12-17T15:55:05","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T20:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=106718"},"modified":"2026-01-08T16:22:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T21:22:23","slug":"community-invited-to-attend-volunteer-as-pow-wow-returns-to-brock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2025\/12\/community-invited-to-attend-volunteer-as-pow-wow-returns-to-brock\/","title":{"rendered":"Community invited to attend, volunteer as Pow Wow returns to Brock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A powerful celebration of Indigenous culture and tradition will return to Brock in January, and there are lots of opportunities for everyone in the University and broader community to get involved.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/experiencebu.brocku.ca\/event\/312776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">third annual Pow Wow<\/a> takes place in the University\u2019s Ian Beddis Gymnasium on Friday, Jan. 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free community event is hosted by the Hadiya\u2019dag\u00e9nhahs First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit Student Centre with support from across the Brock community.<\/p>\n<p>Focused on celebrating Indigenous identities, building community and bringing healing, the <a href=\"https:\/\/experiencebu.brocku.ca\/event\/312776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">family-friendly event<\/a> is open to Indigenous and non-Indigenous people of all ages.<\/p>\n<p>The day will feature a vibrant display of Indigenous music, dance, drumming, art and cuisine. Guests can visit a full slate of Indigenous vendors and explore information booths beginning at 11 a.m. Grand Entry, which signals the official beginning of the Pow Wow, will take place at noon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is Hadiya&#8217;dag\u00e9nhahs First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit Student Centre\u2019s first large-scale event of the term following exams and the winter break.
