Brock students got a behind-the-scenes look at what it\u2019s like to work in information and media policy when guest speakers from the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat visited campus late last month.<\/p>\n
Associate Professor Karen Louise Smith in the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film welcomed Analysts Ada Oliver and Cara Scarfone and Data Analyst Junearn Lenon to a third-year Communication and Media Policy class to discuss access to government information. The visit took place Friday, Sept. 26 ahead of United Nations International Day of Access to Information on Sunday, Sept. 28.<\/p>\n
Oliver, who joined virtually, Scarfone and Lenon presented to students on the government\u2019s approach to information access, how technology has changed both the nature and volume of government records and key resources available to the Canadian public to support research.<\/p>\n
