{"id":105064,"date":"2025-10-03T13:32:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T17:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=105064"},"modified":"2025-10-03T19:13:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T23:13:30","slug":"brock-its-launches-cybersecurity-awareness-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2025\/10\/brock-its-launches-cybersecurity-awareness-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock ITS launches cybersecurity awareness campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock\u2019s Information Technology Services (ITS) team is kicking off a month-long campaign to educate students, faculty and staff about staying safe online.<\/p>\n<p>October is <a href=\"https:\/\/cybersecurityontario.gov.on.ca\/cam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cyber Security Awareness Month (CAM)<\/a>, an internationally recognized initiative that raises awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s campaign, \u201cUnleashing Cyber Champions,\u201d invites Canadians of all ages to strengthen their cybersecurity to help protect themselves as well as their families, schools, businesses and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Each week during CAM, Brock ITS will share cybersecurity tips and resources \u2014 including games, articles, infographics and quizzes \u00a0\u2014 designed to help users learn about:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>developing healthy online habits<\/li>\n<li>adopting best practices for using artificial intelligence<\/li>\n<li>building resilience to cybersecurity threats<\/li>\n<li>exploring the importance of continuous cybersecurity monitoring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Brock ITS will also be running a contest for students throughout October, with the top three students on the BrockU Cyber Aware platform leaderboard as of 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 eligible to win a prize.<\/p>\n<p>Students can track their progress using the recently introduced leaderboard on the Engagements Tab.
