Brock University community members joined the Hadiya’dag\u00e9nhahs First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit Student Centre for the Walk with Brock on Tuesday, Sept. 23.<\/p>\n
The 30-minute walk began outside Residence 8, followed the campus\u2019 main roads to the Niagara Regional Headquarters and returned to its starting point.<\/p>\n
Participants were encouraged to wear orange to show their support for reconciliation.<\/p>\n
Orange shirts<\/a> are worn in recognition of survivors of Canada\u2019s residential schools and in memory of the children who never returned home. Shirts created by the Hadiya’dag\u00e9nhahs team are available at the Campus Store<\/a>, with proceeds directed to the Mohawk Village Memorial Park<\/a> in Brantford, Ont., which is located on the grounds of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School.<\/p>\n\n\t
