Brock University students began the school year by giving back to the community they now call home.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Sept. 6, the annual Brock Cares Day of Service saw 185 students volunteer their time with more than a dozen organizations across Niagara, offering a helping hand to the YWCA Niagara, Canadian Blood Services, the Niagara Falls Community Outreach Soup Kitchen and Habitat for Humanity, among other groups.<\/p>\n
The day of giving back, which highlights Brock\u2019s commitment to community involvement and strong ties to the Niagara region, launched a monthly series of opportunities<\/a>\u00a0for students to continue to volunteer their time throughout the year.<\/p>\n In addition to Brock Cares, Saturday saw the University’s Welcome Wagon<\/a> roll into neighbourhoods in Thorold and St. Catharines. A team of Brock students and staff along with local partners visited 500 homes throughout the day to build positive connections and share Off-Campus Living and Neighbourhood Relations resources.<\/p>\n Volunteers and community members rounded out the day by coming together for a community dinner hosted by the Thorold Business Improvement Association at the Moose and Goose in downtown Thorold.<\/p>\n\n\t
