{"id":103910,"date":"2025-08-20T16:45:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T20:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=103910"},"modified":"2025-08-20T17:10:39","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T21:10:39","slug":"brock-zimbabwe-olympic-committee-team-up-to-strengthen-sport-governance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2025\/08\/brock-zimbabwe-olympic-committee-team-up-to-strengthen-sport-governance\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock, Zimbabwe Olympic Committee team up to strengthen sport governance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new international partnership between Brock University\u2019s Sport Management (SPMA) program and the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) is set to create fresh opportunities for researchers, athletes and sport leaders on both sides of the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two organizations will work together over the next five years to advance sport governance, deliver specialized training and foster collaborative research.<\/p>\n<p>ZOC President Thabani Gonye called the initiative a bold step toward shared excellence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to start this groundbreaking partnership with Brock University, which will raise the bar for academic and athletic achievement in Zimbabwe,\u201d he said. \u201cThis MOU represents our mutual dedication to promoting innovation, enabling scholars and athletes and strengthening cultural ties between our countries. We are opening up a world of possibilities for our young people and sports community through exchange programs, research projects and mutual learning. Together we shall accomplish greatness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The partnership began taking shape during Associate Professor of Sport Management Shannon Kerwin\u2019s 2024 sabbatical, when she was working with the Dream Together Masters program at Seoul National University.
