From its professional development opportunities to wellness supports and employee engagement, Brock University is being recognized for fostering a strong and positive workplace environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Forbes has named Brock one of Canada\u2019s <\/span>Best Employers for Company Culture<\/span><\/a>, ranking the University seventh of 200 organizations highlighted for their commitment to workplace excellence. The inaugural list, compiled by the global media company in partnership with research firm Statista, honours organizations across all sectors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, Forbes also recognized Brock as the <\/span>third best overall employer in Canada<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>10th among Canada\u2019s Best Employers for Diversity<\/span><\/a>. Earlier this year, Brock was also named one of <\/span>Hamilton-Niagara\u2019s Top Employers<\/span><\/a> for the seventh time by the editors of Canada\u2019s Top 100 Employers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Released Tuesday, July 15, the Best Employers for Company Culture list is based on survey results from more than 40,000 people working for Canadian organizations with at least 500 employees.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Forbes, participants in the independent, anonymous survey were asked to evaluate their own employers and others in their industry. The evaluation covered many aspects of workplace experience, including leadership, communication, employee engagement, collaboration and values alignment. Additional metrics tied to corporate culture were also gathered and incorporated into the final score, providing a holistic view of each company\u2019s internal culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBrock\u2019s welcoming campus environment \u2014 with an unmatched sense of community, made possible by 6,000 dedicated employees \u2014 is a big part of what makes the University such a special place to work,\u201d says Amanda Villella, Acting Associate Vice-President, People and Culture. \u201cThis ranking reflects the positive workplace environment we\u2019ve all built together.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Collaboration continues to be the keystone of Brock\u2019s success.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The University <\/span>launched its new Institutional Strategic Plan<\/span><\/a> in November, which was the result of a highly consultative process that included <\/span>more than 2,000 consultations with faculty, librarians, staff and other members of the Brock University community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Strategic Plan focuses on Brock\u2019s ability to transform people and reimagine the future, with members of the University community championing one another along the way.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are committed to supporting our employees not only in their work but also in their growth as they progress in their careers,\u201d Villella says. \u201cWe want our employees to feel inspired in their roles and to see their path forward at the University.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock offers a variety of <\/span>learning and professional development opportunities<\/span><\/a> for employees and has seen high demand for its customizable leadership development programming that includes electives such as Leadership with Indigenous Values, Mental Health First Aid, Mentorship Matters and Women Leadership Perspectives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To support employee well-being, the University provides a <\/span>wide array of supports<\/span><\/a> and hosts wellness initiatives throughout the year, including the popular annual <\/span>Employee Wellness Day<\/span><\/a> that drew nearly 700 participants this year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock also has a <\/span>Flexible Work Arrangement Policy<\/span><\/a> in place that allows many employees to have the option for remote work, compressed work weeks and alternate schedules.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
