{"id":101555,"date":"2025-05-15T12:51:32","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T16:51:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=101555"},"modified":"2025-05-15T16:34:01","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T20:34:01","slug":"bench-dedication-ceremony-to-honour-memory-of-psychology-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2025\/05\/bench-dedication-ceremony-to-honour-memory-of-psychology-student\/","title":{"rendered":"Bench dedication ceremony to honour memory of Psychology student"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Brock University community is invited to remember the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2024\/10\/psychology-student-remembered-for-campus-involvement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">life and legacy of Mishrka Bucha<\/a> at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 21 in Jubilee Court.<\/p>\n<p>All are welcome to gather by the gazebo in front of the DeCew Residence at 12:30 p.m., where a bench will be dedicated to the late fourth-year Psychology student, who was also minoring in French Studies.<\/p>\n<p>The bench will honour Bucha\u2019s memory and stand as a symbol of friendship, love and support for the campus community.<\/p>\n<p>Words of welcome will be provided by Ecumenical Chaplain Krista Hilton, followed by the revealing of a memorial plaque by Brock MBA student Mannat Singh and the bench dedication.<\/p>\n<p>An international student from Mauritius, Bucha was a dedicated member of the Brock community and her vibrant presence on campus will be deeply missed.<\/p>\n<p>She served as a Don in Brock\u2019s Quarry View Residence, a student-staff member with Brock Library and Career Services, and as an International Student Ambassador. She was also a student-athlete with the Brock women\u2019s fencing team.<\/p>\n<p>Personal Counselling Services and mental health supports are <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/health-wellness-accessibility\/personal-counselling-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available free of charge<\/a> for Brock students.
