Learning and growing

Children from the Rosalind Blauer Centre for Child Care planted fruits and vegetables in three of Brock University's community garden plots Wednesday, June 2. The children will continue to care for the plants throughout the spring and summer, and will help harvest the crops at the end of the growing season. Freshly picked fruits and vegetables will be used in children’s snacks and lunches, with the remaining harvest frozen and preserved for the winter. Junior preschool children, from left to right, Elias I., Ben H. and Nathan D., helped Assistant Executive Director Kelly Brochu plant watermelon, cantaloupe and marigolds. Other children planted red peppers, English cucumber, green zucchini and pole beans.
