Italian rapper, activist talks social justice at Brock

Rap artist, author and social activist Amir Issaa visited Brock University Friday, Feb. 3 to share his experiences growing up as a second generation immigrant in Italy. He spoke about the discrimination faced by immigrant families in Italy and how being introduced to early hip hop culture in Rome gave him a community, creative outlet and purpose. With more than 200 songs on Spotify and three books, Issaa uses his talent and fame to work for social justice and to push back against stereotypes of immigrants and rap music. Issaa's talk was hosted by the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures as part of his Canadian tour.
