International Holocaust Remembrance Day marked with public event

Jack Lightstone, Professor in the Department of History and Past President and Vice-Chancellor at Brock University, spoke to a full house at the Niagara Military Museum on Jan. 27 for International Holocaust Remembrance Day. He spoke about early Christians’ challenges to forge an identity, which later resulted in casting the Jew as the ultimate “other” in the Western world. Associate professors in the Department of History at Brock University Elizabeth Vlossak and Maria del Carmen Suescun Pozas, and Jim Doherty, Niagara Military Museum President, are founding fellow associates of The History Lab (THL), which co-hosted the event. As research fellows with THL, Vlossak and Suescun Pozas help bridge the gap between academic institutions and nonacademic groups that operate in the creative and culture sector. The History Lab welcomes innovative ideas for potential projects from the Brock community and Niagara at large and can be reached at thehistorylab@gmail.com.
