Game jam a spooktacular success

The second annual Spooky Shapes Game Jam, hosted by Brock's Centre for Digital Humanities, was a huge success. Forty-three students competed in 14 teams to design, program and deliver a playable Halloween-themed video game in just 12 hours last weekend. Teams started work on Friday, Oct. 26 and picked up again on Saturday after an enforced overnight break. The game jam is a low-stakes opportunity for students to develop skills and try new ideas within certain constraints. Completed games were judged by CDH faculty and guest judges Shane McCafferty and Jim Squires of Rocketship Park on criteria including quality of the game experience, commitment to the theme and working within the given constraints. This year’s winner was BAT by Team Purple Imp (Kyle Giammarco and David Kah Cheong). The event is produced with the help of community partners, student volunteers, and CDH staff and faculty.
