Sudarsana Poojari, Brock Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute Senior Scientist, Grapevine Virology, was hard at work in the Institute's Niagara-on-the-Lake research vineyard this week. He dragged his net along the tall vegetation surrounding the edge of the vineyard, looking for insects that might transmit grapevine viruses. Ongoing research in this vineyard block includes the evaluation of different grapevine clone and rootstock combinations to determine which best suits local climatic conditions.
