Brock helps to celebrate Indigenous champions

Each year on the fourth weekend in July, Indigenous people from all over North America gather for a multicultural celebration that promotes a thriving arts heritage and showcases music, dance, arts and crafts. This past weekend, just outside of Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River successfully hosted the 40th annual Grand River Champion of Champions Powwow — and Brock University was there to show its support. "This is the biggest powwow in Canada where Indigenous peoples from all over North American come together to celebrate and share our culture," says Brock Aboriginal Student Services Support Assistant/Student Advisor Brendan Burke (BPH '19). "It is also an excellent opportunity to engage our community about Brock's programs and services in an environment many First Nations youth are familiar with." Burke, right, took this opportunity to discuss the various degrees Brock offers with Erika Maracle, of Tyendinaga, Ont.
