Jair de la Rosa Escutia, a third-year Industrial Engineering student from the Universidad Tecnológica del Valle de Toluca in Mexico, joined Brock’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program last week as part of a special scholarship opportunity. Escutia arrived in Canada this week thanks to a joint government initiative with Mexico called Proyecta, which aimed to see 10,000 Mexican learners studying in Canada in 2018. Through the initiative, undergraduate students and teachers residing in Mexico have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship in ESL programming to further their academic and professional aspirations.
