A Brock graduate student and business professor have won a prestigious award for a finance paper they co-authored.

Yuanbin Xu, who recently completed his master’s degree in finance, and Ernest Biktimirov, an associate professor of finance, won the Outstanding Investments Paper award at the recent Eastern Finance Association conference in Florida for their paper “Market reactions and changes in the Nasdaq 100 index.”

The award comes with a $1,000 cheque for the winners.

“Yuanbin’s award is a great achievement for our MSc program,” Biktimirov said. “My U.S. and European colleagues were shocked when they learned that this award-winning paper was co-authored by an MSc student and was based on his thesis.”
