Thesis defences — Nov. 13 to Nov. 17

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Nov. 13 and Friday, Nov. 17.

Master of ​Science in Applied Health Sciences (Health Sciences) thesis defence

Haleigh Cumiskey, a Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Hunger, academic performance and the moderating role of social support in Canadian youth” on Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon in WC 204.

The examination committee includes Pauli Gardner, Chair; Will Pickett, Supervisor; Ann Farrell, External Examiner (Brock University); and Karen Patte and Val Michaelson, Committee Members.

Master of Arts in Psychology thesis defence       

Victoria Vella, a Master of Arts in Psychology candidate, will defend the thesis “Dysregulation of Immune Function, Gut Microbiota Composition and Short-Chain Fatty Acid Production Following Prenatal Alcohol Exposure: A Developmental Perspective” on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. in PL 600 F and in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Charlis Raineki, Supervisor; Roh-Yu Shen, External Examiner (University at Buffalo); Michael Busseri, Graduate Program Director; and Cheryl McCormick and Paula Duarte Guterman, Committee Members.

Master of ​Arts in Applied Health Sciences (Sport Management) thesis defence

Richard Lamothe, a Master of ​Arts in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Ending the cycle: Scholars’ perspectives on hazing prevention” on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in virtual format.
