Changes made to enhance safety on campus

Brock has reviewed the level of information it makes available to the public on both the course timetable and the faculty and staff directory.

The following changes have been made ahead of the start of the Fall Term:

  • Course locations no longer appear in the public course timetable. This information remains available to members of the University community who log into the registration system (i.e., Brock DB).
  • Individual office locations no longer appear in the public faculty and staff directory. The locations of administrative units, including reception areas for offices, are still listed to facilitate wayfinding.

These changes follow a hate-motivated attack at the University of Waterloo campus on June 28 and reflect calls from various organizations in the sector for universities to enhance the safety of students, faculty and staff studying and working in academic areas that might be targeted by hate.

Brock has consulted with key stakeholders on campus, including the Brock University Faculty Association.

Comments or questions about these changes can be sent to provost@brocku.ca
