The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Aug. 28 and Friday, Sept. 1.

PhD in Applied Health Sciences thesis defence

Stacey Woods, a PhD in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “Child–Adult Differences in Discrete Motor-Unit Activation: Insights from sEMG Decomposition” on Monday, Aug. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. in PLZ 600F.

Master of Science in Statistics thesis defence

Amir Khalili Mahmoudabadi, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, will defend the thesis “Distributed Supervised Statistical Learning “ on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. in virtual format.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; S. Ejaz Ahmed, Supervisor; Armin Hatefi, External Examiner (Memorial University of Newfoundland); and Tianyu Guan and Pouria Ramazi, Committee Members.

Master of Arts ​in Psychology thesis defence

Oya Pakkal, a Master of ​Arts in Psychology candidate, will defend the thesis “Emotion Regulation: Is it more taxing for adolescents than for adults?” on Wednesday, Aug. 30 from noon to 2 p.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Paul Hamilton, Chair; Elizabeth Shulman, Supervisor; Khrista Bolan, External Examiner (McMaster University); Michael Busseri, Graduate Program Director; and Ayda Tekok-Kilic and Karen Campbell, Committee Members.

Master of Arts ​in Applied Disabilities thesis defence

Niruba Rasuratnam, a Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “On the Effectiveness of Video Prompting with Embedded Safety Checks to Teach Correct Child Passenger Safety Restraint Installation and Harnessing” on Wednesday, Aug. 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. in virtual format.

Master of Arts in Applied Disabilities Studies thesis defence  

 Quinlan Stamp, a Master of Arts in Applied Disabilities Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “PECSperts! Exploring Child and Caregiver Outcomes Following Participation in a Brief Communication Camp” on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 1 to 3 p.m. in virtual format.
