Spring Convocation begins Monday: What you need to know

The stage is set, the gowns are ready and Brock University’s campus is buzzing with activity as Spring Convocation inches closer.

Brock’s 113th Convocation takes place Monday, June 12 to Friday, June 16, with about 3,500 graduands set to receive their degrees throughout the week. Ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day, except for Friday when only a morning ceremony is scheduled.

All ceremonies take place in Ian D. Beddis Gymnasium of Brock’s Walker Sports Complex and will be livestreamed online at brocku.ca/livestream

Guest arrival

Tickets will not be required to attend, but there is a two-guest limit per graduand and all guests will be required to check-in prior to entering the ceremony. Guests are encouraged to have the name and student identification number of the graduand they’re celebrating present at check-in.

Post-Convocation celebrations

Following each ceremony, graduates and their loved ones are invited to the New Alumni Celebration in the Rankin Family Pavilion to explore additional photo opportunities and enjoy light refreshments and live music.

Class of 2023 graduates are also encouraged to update their contact information with Brock University Alumni Relations. If they do so by Friday, June 23, they will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a one-night stay at the W hotel, provided by Manulife, a $600 credit to Novo Spa and $300 to The Keg Steakhouse and Bar. Signs will be posted across campus to participate throughout Convocation week.

A celebration for Brock’s master’s and PhD graduates and their guests will also be held throughout the week on the upper level of the Rankin Family Pavilion.

The Grad² Experience area — available after every morning ceremony until 2 p.m. and on Monday until 5 p.m. following the afternoon ceremony — will include photo opportunities, sweet treats and the chance to mingle with fellow graduates, faculty and staff.

Online celebration toolkit

Brock graduands have the chance to mark this milestone moment in their lives using the University’s online celebration toolkit, which includes Convocation-themed cover photos, wallpapers, Instagram filters and Giphy stickers to help grads share their accomplishments on social media.

The toolkit also includes a map of the University’s photo trail, which highlights some of the most iconic and scenic spots on campus, such as the Maj.-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock statue, Pond Inlet and Alumni Field. Grads are encouraged to share their photos on social media with the hashtag #BrockUGrad so the University can celebrate with them.

Campus Store

The Brock Campus Store will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, with an additional pop-up store in the Walker Sports Complex offering a variety of University gear as well as degree frames from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Parking

Complimentary parking will be available throughout Convocation week. Please follow the directional signage to Lot B and Lot D. If these lots are full, overflow parking will be available in Zones 1 and 3.
