Anyone can be a leader at student-led summit

An upcoming summit is aiming to help students start their leadership journeys.

Organized by students and for students, the Brock Student Leadership Summit (BSLS) will take place Sunday, March 26 in TH 325 in Brock’s Thistle Complex, and welcome participants to take part in a full day of interactive workshops, speaker presentations and networking opportunities all centred around the theme ‘Anyone can be a leader.’

Running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., tickets to the event will cost $15, which includes lunch.

Among the day’s highlights will be a keynote address from Brock alumna Janet Westbury (BPhEd ’93, MEd ’99), who will share about useful skills and practices she has learned on her own leadership journey.

Summit Chair Grace Chretien, a fifth-year Concurrent Education student and Leadership Development Assistant, said she hopes participants learn to be leaders regardless of their background and experience.

“This day will help them to gain practical skills to support their leadership journey, whether they’ve never thought about leadership before or have tons of experience,” she said.

Further information and registration can be found on the Brock Student Leadership Summit Eventbrite page, while additional student leadership opportunities can be accessed on the Student Life and Success website.
