Two-day student summit to explore ‘human side’ of leadership

Brock students have the opportunity to explore the concept of leadership alongside their peers later this week.

The virtual Brock Student Leadership Summit will focus on the theme of “Leaders who touch, move and inspire” during sessions Friday, March 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Held on Microsoft Teams, the student-led event will include a keynote address Friday evening from Queen Diambi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the foundations of leadership in an ever-changing society.

During the Saturday session, the focus will be on a broad set of leadership topics, including integrating leadership skills into the broader Brock community and strengthening networking skills.

Summit planning committee member Grace Chretien said the sessions offered a foundation for all students interested in leadership opportunities.

“We hope that students take away insights into the human side of leadership,” said the fourth-year Concurrent Education student. “Often leaders are portrayed as high-level, perfect professionals, but anyone can be a leader, including Brock students.”
