Safety top of mind for Schmon Tower pedestrian zone

The Brock University community is reminded that motor vehicles are not permitted in the Schmon Tower pedestrian zone for the safety of students, staff, faculty and visitors.

The looping stretch of driveway on Sir Isaac Brock Blvd. from the Maj.-Gen Sir Isaac Brock statue to the Rankin Family Pavilion is to remain clear for emergency vehicles and pedestrians exiting transit buses.

Parking, pick up, drop off, loading and unloading is not permitted in this heavy foot traffic area, except for authorized vehicles, such as Campus Security cruisers and service vehicles needing access to nearby buildings and infrastructure.

Buses are not permitted in the Tower pedestrian zone and are expected to loop on the driveway between the statue and the Tower Lawn.

Three service vehicle parking spots are located to the west of the Rankin Family Pavilion entrance.

Also on the west side are two new accessible paid parking spots. Vehicles parking in these spots are required to display a blue placard accessible permit from the Ministry of Transportation. Proof of payment is also required, such as displaying any current Brock parking permit or a receipt from a Pay and Display parking machine anywhere on campus. Hourly or daily parking payment can also be made through the Honk mobile app.

Vehicles requiring accessible pick up and drop off can use the designated accessible loading area located to the east of the Rankin Family Pavilion entrance, near the Goodman School of Business atrium.

Universal pick up and drop off zones, with areas to safely pull off the road, are located at the east entrance to the Roy and Lois Cairns Health and Bioscience Research Complex and the south side of Robert S.K. Welch Hall.
