Some University services returned to DeCew Residence

The halls of DeCew Residence are again buzzing with activity.

Department of Residences and Student Life and Community Experience staff, who have been working out of a temporary home in Earp Residence since the end of April, moved back into DeCew on Thursday, Aug. 22.

DeCew, Brock’s oldest residence, underwent a series of renovations over the past four months, with construction crews installing new infrastructure, including a hot water tank, a water line for the main building and a new electrical substation.

Half of the residence, including rooms accessible through stairwells one to nine, will be used for student housing during the academic year beginning next month. However, rooms accessible through stairwells 10 to 18 will remain closed and continue to be under construction until next summer.

The DeCew Dining Hall will resume operations on Labour Day weekend.

The North Service Desk, which operates 24-7 for students, will remain in its temporary home in the Earp Residence lobby for the academic year.
