Employees, students asked to turn off lights, electrical devices for the weekend

In an effort to increase participation in Earth Hour on Saturday, March 30, students, staff and faculty members are asked to turn off lights, computers, printers and other non-essential electrical devices before they leave for the weekend.

The illumination of the Schmon Tower will switch from Badger red to earth green Saturday, but from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. the lights will go out entirely. Other lighting on the main campus and in the downtown Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts will also be dimmed or turned off.

Students and other members of the Brock community who plan to be on campus between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday are encouraged to participate in Earth Hour and limit the use of electricity.

Beyond its annual participation in Earth Hour, Brock University is a post-secondary leader in environmental sustainability through waste diversion, water reduction and the establishment of an Environmental Sustainability Policy in 2016.
