Brock ITS hosting encryption workshop

Encryption may seem like a task only taken on by computer whizzes in the movies.

In reality, encryption is pretty simple and can be an important part of keeping data safe. An upcoming 30-minute workshop will teach faculty and staff how to make their data unreadable and protect it from unauthorized users like cybercriminals.

Information in the wrong hands can lead to devastating consequences for both the University and its employees. To help keep data safe, Brock’s Information Technology Services is offering an encryption workshop Wednesday, April 18 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Computer Commons Training Room.

As one of several Cyber Security Awareness workshops offered this year, the encryption workshop will introduce a variety of ways to encrypt information on a phone, computer or email message.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to register online on Focus on Learning. The session is limited to 20 participants.
