Research Café to focus on data analytics

Data and analytics will be at the centre of the annual Faculty of Graduate Studies Research Café.

The event, Big Data and Analytics: Research Opportunities and Career Insights, takes place Thursday, Nov. 23 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Pond Inlet.

Open to the community at large, the evening will include a panel-style discussion with current analytics students, faculty members and industry partners. The panel, moderated by Anteneh Ayanso, Founding Director of Brock’s Centre For Business Analytics (CBA) in the Goodman School of Business, will highlight the important research being conducted in the field.

“One of the goals of the CBA is to build on the University’s capabilities to bring together various fields within the world of big data and further data-driven research,” Ayanso says. “As a challenging academic frontier, big data analytics requires a new approach and constant dialogue among researchers, industry partners and students to facilitate a collaborative training and research environment. This event is a perfect example of how we attempt to address this need and explore new ways of providing students with in-demand training that will serve them well in their careers.”
