New training around the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Human Rights is now available for Brock University employees.
The training for the Brock community will be delivered through a 45-minute online module and is intended for everyone who works here (faculty, staff and student employees), including existing and new employees. Departments can also request training for volunteers to be delivered via an in-class session.
Supervisors are responsible to ensure that all of their employees complete this training as soon as practicable.
With the initial introduction of the Accessible Customer Services Standard in 2010, Brock began delivering an online training session on Customer Service and the AODA.
The development of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) in 2012 marked a second installment of requirements that includes training on the Ontario Human Rights Code and the IASR. In order to meet this legal responsibility, Brock University has launched this new training module called AODA and Human Rights.
The AODA is the first legislation of its type in Canada and Ontario is leading the way in terms of accessibility and legal requirements.
The link to the online training program can be found online at https://lms.brocku.ca/portal/site/AODA_and_Human_Rights or directly on Isaak, Brock University’s Sakai-based learning management system website at https://lms.brocku.ca. Isaak/Sakai uses the same account and password as the my.Brocku.ca portal. Employees are required to print the page after selecting the “Submit for Grading” button following completion of the quizzes and provide it to their supervisor.
