Learning the etiquette of dining

Goodman School of Business students will learn all about proper dining etiquette Monday, Oct. 26.

The event, sponsored by CPA Ontario, will be hosted by the Goodman Career Development Office from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 26 in response to the growing number of interviews and business meetings that are held over a meal.

Marisa Brown, acting manager of Goodman Career, says the event at Pond Inlet will prepare students for these kinds of experiences so that they can focus on the conversation rather than worrying about the nuances of dining etiquette.

“Participating in the Etiquette Dinner will give students a comfort level with a potentially daunting situation so they can impress their interviewer or employer with professionalism and grace,” Brown says.

While enjoying a three-course meal, students will learn from world-renowned etiquette expert Fatima Di Valentin.

“Many employers host networking dinners or socials as part of their recruitment process,” Brown says. “Students will learn tips on how to navigate these situations and gain confidence to present themselves in the best possible manner.”

This is one of the many events that the Goodman Career Development Office hosts throughout the year to better prepare students for the job search and the working world. Goodman students can view a complete calendar of events by signing into CareerZone.
