Three questions with… Lynne Irion

Lynne Irion

Lynne Irion

Lynne Irion is an alumni relations co-ordinator in the Office of Alumni Relations and has worked at Brock for 22 years. A native of England, she lives in St. Catharines and has two children and two grandchildren. Next month, she and her husband will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

What do you like about your job?

Interacting with students (mostly the Brock Student Ambassadors) and graduates and finding out what it is that they love about Brock. The memories that graduates share make me realize that the job that we do is truly worthwhile and makes a huge difference in people’s lives. I have made many friends over the years and personally stay in touch with hundreds of graduates.

What do you do for fun?

I love spending time with my grandchildren and many friends. Too many shopping weekends across the border, lunches, dinners and wine samplings are not helping with my defunct weight-loss program. However, if I had to choose between my friends and being skinny, friends would win out every time.

Where did you go on your last vacation?

My husband and I were in California for two weeks in June. We spent time in San Francisco (which is one of my favourite places), Los Angeles, Malibu and Santa Barbara. The focus of the vacation was to see Wagner’s Ring, which is an opera marathon of four operas in nine days. That was the not-so-fun part of the vacation. However, it is something I am storing for future pay-back when I want to take the children to Disney World and my husband doesn’t want to go.
