A new policy has been approved that acts as a guiding document for how the University interacts with persons with disabilities.
The policy — officially known as the “Provision of University goods or services to persons with disabilities policy” — provides students, visitors and other members of the Brock community with disabilities with a commitment to accessible service at Brock. It also gives faculty and staff a set standard of practices to meet when providing accessible services, University accessibility (AODA) co-ordinator Margaret Sanderson said.
“This is really about how we treat people and how we interact with people,” she said. “This is about setting that tone for future accessibility efforts on campus. This will be our guiding document.”
The policy complies with the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, Ontario Regulation 429/07, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, which was passed into law in 2005.
