Proroguing subject of roundtable discussion

The Centre for Labour Studies and Department of Political Science at Brock will host a roundtable discussion tomorrow with Malcolm Allen, MP for Welland, about the prorogation of parliament.

The talk, “Padlocking Parliament: The Politics and the Prospects for Democratic Reform,” will be Feb. 9 at 12 noon in room 324 of the Plaza Building.

Discussion will centre around the Harper government’s decision to prorogue parliament and the opposition’s attempts to restrict the Prime Minister’s ability to do so in the future. This conversation will then segue into a broader discussion about the state of Canadian democracy and potential democratic reforms.

The roundtable is open to members of the Brock community and the general public.
