Dear prospective Badgers,
It’s decision time. It’s time to think, what do you want to do for a career for the rest of your life? ie. what will you go to study after high school? Big questions that you may not feel prepared for just yet.
If you’re stressing over what you should study after high school, or you’re not sure if the program you may be interested is for you or not? Well I have good news for you, it is okay!
If you start a program, 1 month in, a year in, or even in my case, 3 ½ years into your program, you can make changes.
Just recently I went through the process of changing my degree. I was in the concurrent education program in the junior intermediate stream with a teachable of physical education, and then now, in my 4th year, I came to a realization that I did not want to be a teacher, and that a bachelor of education was not what I wanted. So, I simply met with my academic advisors and I was easily able to switch programs into the 4-year bachelor of physical education. With a few easy course changes for my following semester I was happy to know that I didn’t lose any credits that I had taken and I was able to fulfill the degree that I wanted.
I have met many people who have changed their minds partway through their programs, it is possible!
So if you are unsure of what program is best for you, go with one and you can always make changes that best suit your interests as you take courses and explore potential career paths throughout your university experience.
I know this is a stressful time, best rest assured, you will discover what it best for you at some point along the way.
