Spring is around the corner and for last year high school students that mean that they are thinking about one very important question: what university should I go to? Among many options, it is overwhelming trying to think about this. However, if you are reading this, you got lucky, because I’ve got the answer for you.

Amongst a deck of choices, I decided to come to Brock, and I sleep sound at night knowing that thankfully I made the right decision. Looking back over this year, I decided to talk to you about the highlights of my year.

1. Frosh Week

As an international student, I understand that moving away from your family is tough. However, when I got here, all of Brock’s organization with events on campus allowed me to explore what Brock had to offer and helped me connect with amazing people whom now I can call friends.

2. Recreation

I love all the opportunities that I have had to explore other areas in my life. Ranging from Brock’s sports facilities, along with clubs you can join, through all that the Niagara Region can offer, there is a place for everybody to find their passion. I mean, how many people can say that they have the historical Niagara Falls pretty much in their back yard. Well I do! And it is never a letdown to take a quick bus ride and enjoy a day amongst one of the world’s wonders.

3. The Experience

Brock has decided this year to go with the with the slogan: “Experience. Brock.” This is not just a mere casualty, but rather what Brock really offers, a full experience. University is not only about studying, or not only about sports, or anything else that you might be into. For me, university has been the experience of becoming a well-rounded person, academically and personally. Growing in all areas in my life is something of high priority in my life, and I thank Brock for giving me the opportunity of not only becoming a scholar, but also a human.

I could go on and on about what Brock has to offer, but the distinction is that once you get the experience, you will fall in love. If you can, try to visit campus and taste it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

I’ll be waiting for those who dare to take the experience. It’s the best one so far in my life, and you can have it too!

Until the next one,

Eduardo Retes
