Hey there future Badgers,

Naomi here again, this time to talk to you about Brock’s beautiful campus!

Here at Brock we have one of the most picturesque campuses regardless of the season. We’re located on top of the Niagara Escarpment and are a part of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, which means that there is lots of green space to enjoy. Some of my favourite spaces at Brock are located outside!

For example:

  • Jubilee Court This beautiful courtyard is located close to the centre of campus and had many great features. There are always picnic tables available so that students can enjoy lunch or a nice sunny study space in the warmer months (there’s wifi out here so it’s great whether you’re working online or offline, you can definitely spot me out there!). There is also a Farmers Market that sets up once a week for students and staff in the warmer months – especially handy if you’re looking to buy fresh local produce, like me! More of a cold whether person? That’s quite alright – when the snow flies its the perfect place to make a snowman or snow fort with your new Brock besties!
  • The Bruce Trail Another one of my favourite outdoor Brock features is the trails located behind our residence buildings. The Bruce trail runs through our Campus and if you love hiking as much as I do you’ll appreciate its proximity to campus – And hey! If you live along the Bruce trail you could even save some bus fair and walk home! (just kidding- the trail is 885km long so it might just be better to take a bus, or hitch a ride with mom). There are also trails that run to lake moody (which is a lake located just on the other side of Brock) which is quite picturesque. Finally if you’re up to a longer hike there’s always Decew falls, located just southwest of Campus, this waterfall is a must see while you’re here!

Aside from all of our outdoor space we also have quite an amazing view (#views) from our Schmon Tower (which also happens to be the library). From the Tower you can see most of the Niagara region, including Niagara Falls! My favourite view from the Tower though, is overlooking the city of St. Catharines to Lake Ontario and across to the 6ix! On a clear day from the Tower you can actually tell if the dome of the Rogers Centre is open or closed, which, in my opinion is pretty dang cool! Take a look:

Anyways future badgers, that’s all I’ve got this time – so until next time.

Naomi – out!

About Naomi

Hi there future badgers! My name is Naomi and I'm in my fourth year of the concurrent education, intermediate/senior stream with a drama major and a french minor, quite the mouthful I know - but basically it means that when I'm done here at Brock U I want to teach high school. So now you may be wondering why I chose Brock? I chose Brock because the minute I stepped on campus I felt at home. Brock had it all, the program, the community and the environment I was looking for in my post secondary school of choice. Want to hear more about my experiences? Check out my blog posts! feel free to ask any questions and I'll be happy to respond!
