Hey future badgers!
It’s that time of year again!!! (And although Christmas is right around the corner, that’s not what I’m talking about). For university and college students across the country, we are entering one of the most stressful seasons of the year (aka “Exam Season”). If you’re anything like me and are feeling the stress of making it through the final stretch of the semester, you may find this helpful. Throughout my five years as an Undergraduate student, I’ve had my share of ups and downs when it comes to exam time. You quickly find what works best for you when studying, whether that be group study sessions or making your textbook your new best friend. I’ve complied 5 of my secrets to share with students on ways I find helpful to beat the exam stress!
1. Working out
Whether it be a spin class or a walk outside, working out is particularly helpful for clearing your mind. It’s the perfect study break because it makes you feel good and energized after so you can get through another couple hours of studying.
2. Buy your favourite snack to enjoy while studying
This one’s important! If you get hungry all the time like me, I suggest buying your favourite snack to treat yourself while studying. When you finish reading a chapter, you can reward yourself to whatever snack that may be, which will motivate you to keep going!
Note: some of my favourites are gluten free oatmeal chocolate-chip cookies or Dairy Milk chocolate.
3. Write out your notes
Studies have shown that writing out your notes has been effective in improving students’ academic performance. Plus it’s a great way to stay on task and off of social media!
4. The Puppy Room
This BUSU initiative for Wellness Week is definitely one of the most popular around campus! Who doesn’t love being around a fluffy bundle of joy?!
5. Read one positive quote every day
Although you may not think this one will be helpful, it’s my favourite. It’s something I incorporate into my everyday life, not just during exam time. Whether you read something positive as soon as you wake up in the morning or before you go to sleep, having a positive reminder that you will get through it with flying colours is something everyone should hear!
As I enter my second last exam season as an Undergraduate student, I feel these 5 tips have worked best for me and I hope you find at least one of them helpful. With all that said, best of luck on your exams Badgers, we will get through it together! 🙂
